Approach

Dr. Kauffman’s style is authentic and relational in nature, creating a nonjudgmental and safe space for the therapeutic work to unfold. Her interventions and treatment primarily draws upon psychodynamic, interpersonal-process, mindfulness-based, and cognitive-behavioral perspectives. Dr. Kauffman emphasizes two components to therapy: processing / insight-oriented techniques and behavioral skills and coping strategies. She is also has extensive training in trauma therapies for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders and exposure and response prevention for Obsessive Compulsive Disorders. Additionally, Dr. Kauffman is versed the physical and philosophical tenets of yoga and can incorporate the precepts, breathing techniques, and/or physical postural practice into the work based upon interest and appropriateness.

She has extensive experience working with the teenagers, college students and the adult population, with anxiety disorders, panic attacks, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), depressive disorders, eating disorders, trauma and PTSD, phase of life concerns, transitions and adjustment issues, divorce and relationship problems. Dr. Kauffman currently offers individual therapies, couple’s therapy, family therapy, parent support, and diagnostic evaluations and assessments.
